FOOTBALL: Riley scores four touchdowns as Rogers rolls to much-needed district win vs. Clifton, 43-7

ROGERS -- Junior Christian Riley rushed for 196 yards and three touchdowns and added a 23-yard TD reception to lead Rogers to a 43-7 win over Clifton in a District 13-3A Division II game Friday night at Merk Field, giving the Eagles their second win this season.

Jeremiah Quinones and Christian Watkins each contributed a touchdown run for Rogers, which moved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in district play after coach Charlie Roten's Eagles shook off their league-opening 46-28 loss at Buffalo last week.

After Watkins' 9-yard TD run in the first quarter started the scoring, Riley exploded for the Eagles' next four touchdowns: rushes of 55 and 13 yards and a 23-yard reception from Riley Dolgener in the second quarter, then a 68-yard sprint in the third.

Rogers built a 36-0 lead before Clifton (2-4, 1-1) finally got on the scoreboard with Riley Finney's 14-yard TD pass to Andres Devora in the fourth quarter. The 14-yard touchdown run by Quinones capped the blowout for the Eagles, who play at surging Franklin (3-2, 2-0) next Friday.

John Hill made eight tackles and Ben Hutka and Quinones had six apiece for a Rogers defense that allowed 222 total yards.
