Temple resident and incoming Belton senior golfer Dallas Hankamer will compete in the 111th Texas Amateur beginning Thursday at Boot Ranch in Fredericksburg.
The Texas A&M-committed Hankamer will tee off in the first round at 1:50 p.m. Thursday along with Scott Roden of Dallas and Austin's Jacob Sosa. In the second round Friday, Hankamer will start at 10 a.m. with McKinney's Alex Kopenhaver and Houston's Craig Lurie. After the second round, the 132-player field will be cut to the low 54 players and ties for the final two rounds to be played Saturday and Sunday.
Hankamer, whose current USGA handicap index is plus-4.6, tied for third place in the 2019 Class 6A state tournament in Georgetown as a Belton sophomore.
